CONSTITUTION

The goal of Maharishi Vedic Institute (MVI) is to support and promote the full range of programmes founded by his Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi^®, in order to bring health, happiness, prosperity, and peace to every individual and the nation as a whole.

I Purpose

The purpose of Maharishi Vedic Institute (MVI) is to provide an effective voluntary self-regulating professional body for all individuals qualified to teach, provide services, or perform activities of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi’s Vedic Science in the United Kingdom, including:

• Transcendental Meditation™
• Maharishi Ayurveda™

II Functions

The functions of Maharishi Vedic Institute through its General Council are:

1. Registration
   To maintain a publicly available register of all individuals qualified to teach, provide services, or perform activities of Maharishi’s Vedic Science - this is available from the Registrar.
   
2. Professional education
   To identify approved training centres for all the aspects of Maharishi’s Vedic Science.
   To identify educational standards
   To maintain professional competence of members with programmes of Continuing Professional Development
   
3. Representation of professions
   To represent the professions on statutory and other regulatory bodies
   
4. Research
   To make publicly available the research conducted into Maharishi’s Vedic Science and to promote further research.
   
5. Codes of conduct
   The codes of conduct, ethics and practice in each aspect of Maharishi’s Vedic Science are available through the Registrar.
   
6. Professional indemnity insurance
   To ensure that all accredited members of MVI have professional indemnity insurance
   
7. External representation
   To include representation of clients and the wider public interest on the General Council, the executive body of Maharishi Vedic Institute.

III Structure

General Council
The General Council will be responsible for an overview of the regulatory processes of all the professions related to Maharishi’s Vedic Science.

Its membership consist of:

• Up to six representatives from Maharishi Foundation^®, chosen by its Trustees*
• Up to two representatives from the Spiritual Regeneration Movement, chosen by its Trustees**
• Representative from each aspect of Maharishi’s Vedic Science
• The Registrar of MVI
  - Two representatives of clients and the wider public interest

* Maharishi Foundation^®, registered UK educational charity, number 270157, under the guidance of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi^®, is the only source of courses in Transcendental Meditation™ (a programme for the Development of Consciousness founded by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi).

** The Spiritual Regeneration Movement is a registered UK charity, number 204025, under the guidance of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.
